the first ever Wordcamp Pittsburgh! The day’s hottest topic? Search Engine Optimization! You know, that magical way websites show up in internet searches? Well friends, we learned some super easy ways to improve your SEO right now! No special tech skills required!
5 Easy Ways You Can Improve Your SEO Right Now
Tip 1: Include Keywords – but not too many
A keyword is a word or phrase that tells search engines what a page on your website is about. In other words, it’s the key to getting your page found. Make sure you include them in both your blog posts and your static pages. (Static pages are pages that you don’t change too often – like your Home or About page.)
One caveat though: Don’t stuff your pages full of them or search engines like Google won’t show your site. Remember that a little goes a long way.
Tip 2: Update Content Regularly

Tip 3: Check Your Links
You know when you click on a link only to be shown a screen that looks something like this?
This is called a 404 page and means that the link to the site is broken. And just like you, search engines dislike like them too. They dislike them so much, in fact, that they ignore sites that have them. Go through your website and click on the links. If they lead to nowhere, fix them. What could be simpler?

A plugin is software that adds an extra feature to your website. Adding an SEO plugin can boost your search engine rankings by giving you real time tips and ways to improve your SEO? One of the most popular SEO plugins (and our personal fave) is Yoast (rhymes with ‘Joust’ not ‘Toast’).
Tip 5: Link Your Site to Your Social Media Profiles
Did you know that being active on social media sites boost your search engine optimization? It’s true! Add icons to your profiles on your website and watch your rankings improve! And while you’re at it, make it easy for your visitors to share your amazing content by adding a social sharing plugin. The more your content is shared, the more search engines will notice and move your website up in searches!
