How Facebook’s Latest Changes Are Affecting Your Business

Facebook is at it again!  They’ve rolled out a lot of changes at the start of this year.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked, “So the news feed changes… I’m going to have to pay to promote my business??“.  The truth is… not necessarily!  Yes, your business’ Facebook Page organic reach may decline due to these new changes, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay.   I went straight to the source, Facebook.  Facebook users are tired of their news feed being bombarded with promotional posts.  Facebook users rather see posts from their friends and pages they are really interested in.  Not, “Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app”; “Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context”; or “Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads”.

What does this mean for your business page?  It means working harder to develop solid content that is engaging as well as relevant.  Face it, Facebook’s news feed is a highly competitive place!  Let me guess, now you are wondering “do I really need a business page?”.  The answer YES!  Facebook defines this perfectly…

“Pages still matter – A LOT. They offer a free, easy-to-maintain online presence for people to discover and learn about a business. They work across desktop, mobile and tablets without requiring any extra configuration, and contain complete information about a business. They also offer tools to create videos, photos and events that bring a business’ story to life.”

“Pages are an important destination for their current and potential customers. “

Just last Tuesday I had the opportunity to speak for the second time at Women’s Business Network Leadership Training on this very topic.  For more insight including “How to Rock your Page in 2015” view the presentation below!
