Have you ever been scrolling through the front end of your site and noticed text appearing with strikethrough? You know that you didn’t add it, so what’s going on? If you have a broken link plugin installed on your site, this is telling visitors that the link is broken.
But what if you know that the link isn’t broken!
We know this can be maddening! But, not to worry! Today’s WordPress Wednesday Tip is going to show you how to fix an active link that’s showing as broken.
WordPress Wednesday Tip #14: Fixing Link Text Appearing with a Strikethrough
EDITED: Before you begin, make sure you have the plugin, “Broken Link Checker” installed onto your site. If you are on one of our website care plans then you may proceed! If not, please go to this link and download the plugin. Please make sure you are activating this plugin (and any plugin!) with caution. Sometimes plugins do not play well with other plugins and it can cause issues on your site. 1. First, make sure that the link is actually correct. Then, from your dashboard, hover over ‘Plugins’ and click on ‘Installed Plugins’. You will be taken to your Plugin Page. ***NOTE: If you use ‘Broken Link Checker’ plugin, you can hover over ‘Tools’ and click on ‘Broken Links’.
2. Hover over the ‘Broken Link Checker’ and click ‘Settings’. You will be taken to Broken Link Checker Options page.
3. Click on ‘Found [#] Broken Links’. You will be redirected to a page with a list of all broken links.
4. Scroll through the list and find the one that’s showing as broken but isn’t. **NOTE: Make sure the link works! Hover over the link and click ‘Not Broken’. The link will disappear from the list.
To double check, head over to where your link originally showed that it was broken. It’s fixed right? There you have it! You’ve completed our Fixing Link Text Appearing with a Strikethrough WordPress Wednesday Tutorial! Easy, hugh?!
