How Often To Blog/ Social Media Post

In today’s business world you should have a marketing strategy. As any good marketing company can tell you, blogs and social media posts are an important part of your strategy. But how often should you post to get the most leads and exposure? Well, there’s no real good answer for that. Let’s look at why.

 

Know your audience and when they are looking.

One of the biggest things to know when figuring out your posting schedule is to know who you are targeting. You need to know who you want looking at your posts, which can help tell you what the optimal time to post is. For some businesses, this could mean posting in the morning and in the evening to catch the people that work and find time to browse the internet and social media before and after work. For others, if you are looking to reach other businesses, you may want to post during normal working hours.  

 

Make sure you have relevant content.

Readers look for certain things in your posts. They want relevant content that has to do with your industry, but they don’t want just facts and figures. They also don’t want just a bunch of sales pitches either. Try using the 80/20 rule. This means you should do 80% education post and 20% sales posts. People like to learn new and interesting things about companies and products. Once they have that information, that is the best time to come out with a sales post.

 

Keep it honest.

Don’t try to sugar-coat anything. Be honest in your posts and people will respond better. Readers are experienced in recognizing fluff. If you are honest and real with your readers, they will be more inclined to come back for more as they will trust what you are putting out more.

 

Do testing and be consistent.

The best way to know how often you need to post is to do research and testing. Look at other businesses in your industry and see how often they are posting. This will give you a starting point but don’t just blindly follow their posting schedule. Just because it works for them doesn’t mean it will work as well for you. Try doing some testing and find the times and amounts that work best for you. Once you figure out the best times, be consistent. I can’t stress how important that is. If you decide to post to social media two times a day on normal business days and put out two blogs a month on the 1st and 15th, then you need to make sure you keep to that schedule. If you are all over the place in your posting, you will lose readers and possible leads because they won’t know when you are going to post and will get tired of coming back with nothing new to read.

 

When to post your blogs to social media is different for each business. There is no true, hard set amount out there. You need to experiment and do testing to find what works for you. This will take time but, in the end, it will be worth it as it will expand your leads and bring you more revenue. One you have nailed down when to post just remember, while content is a key point, so is consistency. A great example is blogs like this.
