How to Accelerate Your Business Online

Reading Time: 3 minutes

When you start your business you need a solid online presence. This means different things for different people, but it really all boils down to essential elements. You need a good website, knowledge about reviews and how to get them, understand directories,  and knowing how people find you. Let’s go over these things one by one.

Why do I need a website?

As we have said many times, all businesses need a website even if you don’t think you do. Most shoppers today look for businesses online. If you don’t have a website then you are missing out on a large chunk of revenue. Now it’s not just a simple as having a website. You need a GOOD website. This means it needs to be professional and something people really want to buy your product or service. Your website is really a cornerstone for running a digital marketing campaign

Why should I worry about reviews?

When you look at making a purchase online, what is the first thing you do? You research it and look at the reviews, right? Well, it’s the same when people are looking for a business to make a purchase from. They want to know how other people’s experiences were. This is why you need to encourage your customers to leave reviews and tell people if they liked it or if they didn’t.

What do I do with the reviews and what if there is a bad review?

Show your reviews off! Post them on your website and share them on your social media. Don’t be scared of the bad reviews. There isn’t a business out there unless they just opened that doesn’t have a couple of bad reviews. It happens and you can’t please everyone. However, you can lessen it by how you respond to it. Take the time to respond to your comments and reviews. Be professional, apologize, and explain the situation. No more, no less. Then other customers reading the reviews will still have a positive opinion because you were professional and cared enough to respond.

What’s the deal with directories?

Directories like Angi and Yelp are another great way for customers to find you and get your information. This includes your web address, physical address (if you want it known), phone number, email address, and any other information you want the public to know. Now the important part of this is to make sure that all your information is correct across the board. If something has been updated in one area but not the others then customers could be getting the wrong information, meaning you are losing those sales. Make sure your Google My Business listing is correct. This is important if you want to be found in the map pack (those three to four business with maps that show at the top of the search page).

How do I make sure I get found?

The answer to that is SEO and keywords. You have to make sure you are using the right keywords. To do that you need to find out how your customers are searching for you. What phrase are they using to try to find your company? Those are the keywords you need to go for rather than how YOU think they should search for you. Knowing the right keywords can really make an impact on your traffic and your revenue.

This is only the beginning and these few simple things can really enhance your online presence. Doing these things will put you on the path to getting your business noticed. Don’t be afraid and get to know the power of being online. Directories, reviews, and website are all the building blocks to a great marketing strategy that will put your business out there.
