How to Increase Your Conversion Rates

Most businesses that have a website track and monitor traffic to their sites. However, many may see where they are getting good traffic, but they are not getting many sales. Do you know what you need to do to increase your conversion rates and get people to do the action you want? This could be making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or asking for more information. Here is some information that you could use to help increase your conversions.

Keep it simple.

It’s surprising but conversion rate optimization is all about keeping it simple. It may seem like reading the analytics of your website is anything but simple with all the numbers and percentages. However, you need to think simple. Simple websites have a better conversion rate because it is easy for the viewer to understand and follow. By having a less cluttered website, you are more likely to have that viewer convert and become a customer.

Run a split test.

One thing marketers know how to do is run a split test. This will help you narrow down what advertising is working and getting results. When you are first starting out, there are so many different ways your marketing can go. Using split testing will help you narrow that down and optimize your ads, getting more viewers to complete the desired action. The more viewers that complete your CTA (call to action) the higher your conversion rate will be.

Know your customers.

The most basic step of conversion optimization, or really any website optimization, is to know your customers. If you don’t know who your perfect target client is then you can’t optimize your marketing to attract them. Once you know who your client is, then you are ready to start your conversion optimization.

Make sure your site loads quickly.

If your site takes more than a couple seconds to load, you are probably losing viewers. In today’s marketing, viewers are impatient and they are looking for sites that load instantly. You need to make sure your site is optimized for speed. You can do several things to help your load speed. You can make sure your images are optimized for the smallest format because large images or image heavy sites are slow to load. There are some free online sites that can compress your images into smaller files, Tiny PNG and Optimizilla. There are also plugins like Hummingbird Page Speed Optimization that will help increase your website load speed. Also make sure your theme or website layout is easy to follow. Viewers will bounce from your site if they are unsure of where to go or if they are confused on what the website is about.

Keep your content fresh.

Viewers are looking to make sure the information they are reading is current. Content needs to be interesting to the viewer. You may need to play with your content to find what draws the viewer in and cause them to do the CTA. The best thing to do is small tests and see what works.
