How to Schedule a Blog Post

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Sometimes you have a blog or post but it’s not quite time for it to go public yet.  Today we are going to teach you how to load that post and to schedule a time for it to post for you automatically.  Let’s get started.

Step 1: Once you are in your dashboard click on the word posts there to your left in the menu bar.

Step 2:  Once you are in the posts page, click on the button at the top of the page that says Add New.  This will open a fresh post page.

Step 3:  Enter in your post title and the body of your post.

Step 4:  Don’t forget to upload your featured image.  This is the image that will show up on your site for your blog.

Step 5: Once you choose your featured image, scroll to the top of the page and click on edit next to publish (NOT the blue publish button).

Step 6:  When you click edit a menu will appear that allows you to choose the month, day, year, and time of day that you want your post to publish on.

Step 7:  Once you made your date and time choice, click ok.  This will set the chosen time and close that menu.

Step 8:  You will now see that the blue button that previously said publish now says schedule.  Click that button now.

Step 9:  Once it saves the schedule you will see a success message confirming the date and time chosen.

Step 10:  Just to verify that everything is correct go back to your posts main page in the left hand menu from step 1.  Once there you should see your post and the word scheduled next to it.

And that’s it!  That’s all there is to scheduling your post.  This makes posting easy when you have several to do and you need them to go out over a set amount of time.  Check back next Wednesday for more WordPress tips and tricks.
