How to Write the Perfect Headline
Reading Time: 2 minutes
You have the perfect blog in mind and you have it all written up. Now you just need to title it, but you want it to be something that will make people want to read your blog. No problem, we have you covered. We will go over some important things to remember when deciding on your perfect title.
Define Your Article
Your headline should tell your readers what the article will be about before they even start reading it. Make sure you cover the who, what, when, where, why, and how (as applicable) of your blog. This tells people what they can look forward to as the read it. Don’t forget to add value to your blog and tell readers why it’s worthwhile to read your blog.
Make It Catchy
You want your title to catch their attention and make your title memorable. People like lists so you could have your title be something like “12 Reasons Why…”. Don’t be afraid to make your title a little funny or a little weird. You are competing against other snappy headlines, so you want to try to make yours a little different to stand out. Don’t be afraid to put your unique stamp on your headline. After all, this blog represents you and your business. It should be as unique as you are.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
Try writing out 10 different headlines for your blog. See which one fits the best. If you don’t really like any of them, then write 10 more. The more you write the closer you will be to creating the perfect headline. Try different ways to phrase things until you find the one that fits as perfectly as Cinderella’s glass slipper. Your blog is special and your title should be too. When you find the right one you will have that “Ahh that’s the one” moment.
Blogging can be a daunting task but creating your title doesn’t have to be. Relax and let the different thoughts come to you and write them out. The right one will find you that will show your personal style as well as get your readers interest. So don’t worry, you got this! Next week we will talk about deciding what voice you want your blog to have.
