Hey there, grab your coffee and let’s talk a business, how to grow it, how to sustain it, and how to harness the wonderful worldwide web. To do it with me, your host, Jennifer Sakowski. Let’s get started. Hi. Welcome to a brand new episode at Raney Day Talks. I’m Jennifer Skalski and
(00:31):
I hope that you are ready for today’s topic because if you are one that is planning out the last bit, the last 90 days of 2019 and prepping for 2020, shoot, 2020 is knocking out our door and we’re at a place, especially if I have to dig in a little bit and talk about searching into an optimization. If you’re one that has either just launched your website or looking to increase your presence, increase your rankings, um, this episode is for you. Cuz what we know right now is content is king 110%. And the question that comes up is, what do I write about? What do I post about? How much do I give away? And let me tell you all of it.
(01:31):
I want to let this sink in for just a second because today’s podcast episode is why sharing is caring. Cuz I truly believe the more that you post, the more content that you provide your target audience, the people who are following you online, the more you will be elevated and you will see the return on your investment. Whether that’s time, energy, maybe you have a team, whatever it may be. But you’ll see the return. I am one that with my clients, I’m, I’m always big about how many people can you help today? I have that as a reminder in front of me every day that I sit down at my desk. How many people can I help today? Because I believe the more you give, the more you’ll receive.
(02:24):
And I think it holds true in business. Cuz if you are one that has a book or ebook, um, a course that’s coming out, a great way to promote yourself, to be authority, figure to be helpful, give that thing away, at least for a short amount of time, give it away. I know that sounds backwards. I know that you’re like, Hey Jen, I kind of need to make money off of this. I get it, I get it. But when you’re launching, I want you to consider that because I look at some of my business heroes and one who, his name Brendan Rashard, I know I talk about it quite a bit. His book is on the bookshelf behind me. High Performance Habits. Do you know how I got that book? Well, first of all, let me back up.
(03:22):
There was a promotion online that if you, cuz I heard him on another podcast and I was like, oh, I, I was eating up everything he said. And he said, oh, my whole book is can be found on my podcast. And he took every episode and went through his book. So I went through the book and I ate that up so much. I wanted to be able to mark up the, the actual hard copy book. And then he did a promotion to wear, get the book free, just pay for shipping. And I thought, hook, line, and sinker. How, how easy did he make that for me to buy him? And now I’m a follower right now he’s got me, he puts out a planner, I’m buying it. So I say that as an example is it works. Absolutely it works. So here’s what it can do for you.
(04:10):
So you’re building the content and I want you to think, go back to the basics. Who’s your target audience? What problem are you solving? What pain point does your target audience have? Your ideal customer has that you know, you know how to solve it. You got it. I want you to flip it and start writing about that. Okay? Because you will be the authority figure if you start producing content on that. If you start publishing blogs, posting social media, using LinkedIn and really focus on putting good quality content out, you will be the authority figure. And how you do that is be helpful. Once again, answer those questions. Listen to your audience. If, and that’s something that we’d have to do in my own business, is what we originally were doing. It has shifted a different audience. I still work with what, who we started with was a startups, but we also are serving, uh, different audience of those that have been in business 15 plus years with a bigger, um, employee base and have been established a lot longer.
(05:32):
And so what I’m doing is I’m listening. So I challenge you. Be helpful. Listen to the questions that they’re asking and use that to fuel your content. What you’re publishing online, who, what you’re putting out in emails, because as an authority figure, you have them, you have their attention. So you, they, you will be become the one that they count on. Cuz the more that you give away, the more content they’ll start eating it up. And let me tell you, here’s something fun that happens. So you tell them how to do it. It’s just like we have articles on how to WordPress Wednesdays, we put out helpful tips on how to rock your WordPress site because we have a lot of do-it-yourself or clients. So I wanna be super, super helpful. So we, we produce that, we bring up from the archives constantly, but does that mean that nobody buys or has us do their website anymore?
(06:26):
Absolutely not. What happens is that they end up trying to do it. Either they get frustrated, they’re wasting too much time on it, or they don’t wanna be bothered with it. So then they’re like, Hey Jen, can I jump on a care plan? Hey Jen, can you help me out with this? So they know from the content that I’m pro producing regularly, it’s good quality, it’s answering their questions. There’s problem, it’s problem solving for them that they know who to contact. And I’ll be honest, is my content the greatest? It’s, I think it’s good, but is it the greatest? I don’t know. Is it helpful? Absolutely. So that is my challenge today. Do not be afraid to give it away. Do not be afraid to share your processes, your tools, how you get the job done. Do not be afraid of it. Because what will happen is that the more you give, the more you’ll receive That goes from your finances on donating, on, um, giving a, giving to others, to being helpful in your business onto your personal life.
(07:34):
I promise you, I promise you, the more you give, the more you’ll receive. And I think that in today’s, uh, mindset, you know, we’re, we’re so quick to grab up con grab up information or we’re such in a hurry that people are, are, I dunno, I I feel like they’re in need of a business to stand out by being helpful. Not always looking for this sell, but just wanting to just to be there to help them be successful. Cuz I’ve truly believe in how, what my team believes is that if our clients are successful, we’re successful, we get excited when they turn a lead on the site to a customer. We get excited when they’re loaded up with contact submission forms throughout the month. Like that makes us excited. So I really want to challenge you in these last 90 days is to try to be helpful, look for ways that you can break down your processes and share it online and just watch the shift that takes place with your audience. And I look forward for you to comment and to send me, um, how it changed your business because that is the mission that we are on. And I hope everyone gets on that bandwagon as sharing is caring.
(09:01):
So for today’s episode, that’s it, that’s all that I wanna challenge you with is to be helpful so you can be the authority figure. So you’ll be the one that they’ll come to when they need something.
(09:14):
