We're in search of a part-time Project Manager.

We're looking for an individual that has a high awareness of emotional intelligence and who isn't afraid to have uncomfortable conversations. They are not afraid to say no, set healthy boundaries, and can emotionally self-regulate even during times of pressure and stress to be present for the team. They are self-confident, strong, assertive, protective, resourceful, straight-talking, and decisive.
Another great quality they have is extreme, obsessive attention to detail. Highly detailed and organized, with exceptional problem-solving abilities, an independent, self-starter who executes tasks on time, every time.

They also want to be a part of an online culture that gets excited about seeing our client's wins get posted in slack and knowing they are a part of making that happen. About us

Raney Day Design (RDD) - the name "Raney Day Design" comes from Jennifer's (our company's Founder & CEO) maiden name. Originally Raney Day Design was started as a side business to help friends and family figure out how to start their businesses.  Our company originated in the state of Indiana in the fall of 2011.  In the following year, Jennifer moved to Pennsylvania where she resides now.

Needless to say, we weren't sure moving the business over 350 miles that it would take off but we quickly gained momentum for it to be what it is today.

We love building business websites that deliver amazing results! We help small businesses and organizations (5-50+ employees ideally with a physical location) looking to reinvent and formulate their online presence with a website that is on-trend with design, well-coded and flexible enough to grow with the business as it grows. We work with our clients to build a digital marketing strategy, using our Impact Marketing Blueprint, which includes a well-built website, monthly SEO/SEM, regular quality content,  and other resources for online growth. It’s important for us to create ongoing personal relationships with our clients and facilitate the roles of a dedicated webmaster and support team. We've worked hard to have a very deep list of legacy clients (who have been with us for 7+ years).

  • Our office is completely virtual…which means you can wear yoga pants, or pajamas, or anything!  We are all virtual and Slack is our ‘office’. (But, if you find yourself in PA you better believe Jen's going to want to meet up occasionally... watch out she's a hugger).

Ideally, this individual would be available to tap in, in the AM and then before end of the business day.   However, for the right person, we can be flexible.  Our office hours are 9am EST to 4pm EST.  We strive to overlap everyone's hours so we continually build on our sense of online community.
  • You are in control of your destiny.  If you are just looking for a few hours a day long term,  that’s OK.   But if you decide you want to grow your role, that’s great also.

  • You must have some knowledge of online marketing, particularly web development + SEO. While you don’t need tons of experience, we do expect you to have a solid understanding of the online business world and a keen interest in digital marketing. We expect intelligence, energy, organization, resourcefulness and a get-it-done attitude. Like the rest of our team, you are always learning. Continuous self-improvement for both professional and personal development is at the forefront of everything we do. We take courses, read books, listen to podcasts, attend conferences and do what it takes to always be learning new skills and improving ourselves. When we don’t know the answer to something, we go out and find it.   • You are meticulous in your work. We’re looking for someone who gets stuff done. Managing our project management software in ClickUp involves some spreadsheet wizardry and you need to be comfortable in the nitty gritty details, with tech and keeping things meticulously organized. It’ll be your job to maintain our databases. You need to nail down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half-you know what! (that’s the exact opposite mindset we need). We need you to have an eye for the bigger picture + how things fit together and be able to nail the details that match, and get them done efficiently. You’re really good at creating and following a plan AND trying to make that plan even better next time.

What does success look like in this role?

Making the CEO’s vision a reality through team and project management

  • You are the protector of Jen’s time, ensuring she can be a leader and Visionary and NOT a manager and implementer
  • You are responsible for communicating with clients and gathering the necessary information to move the project forward. Communication with clients will include Zoom meetings and messaging through Zendesk. 
  • This role is heavily involved with the implementation of our project management, meeting cadence, and assisting our operational systems. 
  • You must be willing to contribute and collaborate, not just “do the tasks”.  We want your point of view.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate issues and risks keeping the company compliant. Creatively solve problems and bottlenecks to keep projects on track.
  • Jen feels supported—all tasks are held and nurtured.
    • Provide a weekly status update to Jen. 
    • Identify and solve problems with little to no involvement from Jen.
  • You are the one holding the team accountable, checking their work, and making sure deadlines are met and tasks are completed to the highest standards. Not Jen. Closing the loop on projects to ensure they’re brought to 100% completion without needing to involve Jen.
    • If we’re working with an outside vendor, you are responsible for ensuring we are getting an ROI, seeing results and if not, coming up with a solution whether that’s finding a new vendor, trying a new strategy or removing the task from our list as a whole.\
  • You are also responsible for compiling and sending end-of-week reports to the clients you are handling, keeping them informed and updated on project progress. 
  • You need to be comfortable and confident saying NO to the CEO (or at least, not right now) when the team doesn’t have the bandwidth to execute her ideas.

Who this is not for:

  • Someone who’s always right or feels the need to ‘pass the buck’ when mistakes happen. We’re all human… and humans make mistakes but we push each other to take ownership in all we do!
  • Someone who isn’t comfortable with being challenged to try something new, do it a different way or get out of their comfort zone.
  • Someone who asks questions without first working out what information is needed to answer the question or how they might answer the question themselves if there was no one about to ask.
  • Negative nancies.  We believe negativity will not get us to where we are going.  We choose to look for the good in situations even when they are painful learning opportunities.

What you’ll do (but also not limited to these tasks):

  • Manage our team members and outside vendors (WPA, etc) to ensure we’re all rowing in the same direction and getting results from our efforts
  • Supervise all contractors and conduct weekly team check-ins (reviewing their EOD standups) and ensure maximum performance for our team.
  • You are the taskmaster, ensuring the team is meeting their deadlines and following up with them when needed to keep a project running smoothly. 
  • Empowering the team to make more of their own decisions so Jen can make less and ensuring our core values are used in decision-making in all departments.
  • Providing assertive, direct feedback to the team using radical candor and daring leadership and resolving issues effectively—you are comfortable with conflict, calling out the problems, and solving the problems in a practical and healthy manner. 
  • Getting status updates from the team daily via Slack/ClickUp and anticipating, identifying, preventing and resolving conflicts as they arise.
  • Reinforcing the mission and goals with our team so that we make certain that we are moving toward RDD’s vision.

Job details:

  • This is a part-time, subcontractor position.
  • The schedule is 10-25 hours a week.
