Using Call To Actions

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You are getting traffic to your site, but do you know how to make them customers? Sure you may have a button that says something like “Buy Now” but does that really get people to buy? Let’s look at some ways to improve your call to actions to get people to click.

Keep it short and sweet

You only have a small space to convince people to do what you want them too. Be straight to the point and tell them what you need them to do. If you are selling something start your message with words like “buy’ or “shop”. To get them to sign up for a newsletter, try using “Subscribe”. If you want them to reach out for more information, try using “Fill out for” or “Find out more.”

Make them feel emotion or excitement

If you make your CTA (call to action) show excitement, then the customer will feel it too. It can be as simple as just adding an exclamation point to your CTA. For example, “Buy Now!” gives the customer a sense of excitement and has a better chance of converting rather than just “Buy Now.”

Give them a reason to do it

When you ask someone to do something the most common thought is what’s in it for them. Tying in what makes your company unique is a great way to show them value for doing the action. For example, “Call now to schedule your free consultation for our one of a kind service.” You are asking them to call  and giving them something in return.

Use the Fear of Missing Out

One of the biggest fears of consumers is that they are going to miss out on a deal. This can be used to your advantage. When you are creating your call to action, use words that create a sense of urgency, like a sale that is for a short time. However, make sure you are honest and that if you say limited time that it really is. If a customer jumps at the deal and then a year later the sale is still going on, they will lose trust in your brand.

Be creative

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Customers get numb to the same old CTAs. Be creative and make one that grabs their attention. Make sure it fits your brand and your product.

Call to actions can be tricky. The best way to know what works is to try different things. CTAs are a valuable tool to convert viewers into customers. Next week we will talk about creating your lead generation strategy.
