WordPress Wednesday Tip 18: Embedding Videos into a Blog Post

You know that using video as part of your social media strategy is all the rage this year. But did you know that adding video to your blog posts is a great way to attract, engage, and draw visitors back to your site, too? WordPress Wednesday Tip 18 shows you how to easily embed video in a blog post. Ready to get started?
WordPress Wednesday Tip 18: How to Embed Video into a Blog Post
1. Open a new tab in your browser and go to the page that houses the video you want to embed.
2. After finding the video, click on ‘Share’. This may be the actual word ‘Share’ or an icon that looks like one of the following: The share option might be within the video’s ‘Menu’ or ‘Settings. These may be the actual words, or an icon that looks like one of the following:
3. Click on the ‘Embed’ option. This might be the actual word, or an icon that look likes:
4. Copy the code that displays exactly as it is.
5. Navigate back to website. In the body of the blog, click ‘Insert’.
6. Click ‘Insert/edit video in the drop down menu.
7. Click ‘Embed’ and paste the copied code into the box. Click ‘Update’.
That’s all there is to it!
Bonus Tip
Make sure to let your audience know right away that there’s a video in the post. This will help it stand out and increase the likelihood of visitors viewing it. Do this by:
- Noting it in the title of the post. Using brackets has been shown to boost click through rates.
- Embeding the video as close to the beginning of your post as possible. Ideally, introduce the video in a couple sentences and then display it.
